I understand that Immigration bill is not an easy one to pass. If it is being introduced again, hopefully they are not going to have the exact same wordings. I am sure they would have learnt something from the previous failures and come to some agreeable compromise.
So i think it is good to have some hope and work towards making it happen. Lets not worry about failure. We have nothing much to lose.

But we never wrote these laws nor were we kept in mind when these laws were written.
The only way all these things seem to move along is because of Immigration help community like IV and experienced lawyers who have interpreted these ambiguous laws.

I think I made a mistake by being sarcastic about the bill. Members assume that I have given up hope.

This was a joke on the bill and meant to point out the injustice. Please ignore this.
I have been to DC 4 times this year in 2007 and I or other core group members are not going to give up on amendments. And Aman has been there every 2 weeks. I am not kidding. He has been there either on Mon-Tue or Thu-Fri 2 times each month doing meetings in Senate offices and educating and finding sponsors. We are not going to give up now after all that hard work just because the bill is ridiculous.
Just because I am taunting the injustice of the bill doesnt mean that I or others have given up. WE ARE in position to put in amendments. How much, I dont know. But pretty sure that we will make a good amount of difference.

I just checked the Mumbai consulate website (I am assuming your wife is in India) and the earliest available appoitment for H4 is July 27th. Why cant she take that? All you have to do is reschedule.
There are also appointments for H4 for Aug 3,6,8,10. She shoudl reschedule her appointment.

I am not sure what your health insurance situation with your employer is. Here is some thing I know. Please research and see whether this helps.
Under HIPPA regulations, insurance companies cannot decline pregnancy as pre existing condition if you and your spouse are covered by group coverage. Generally, group coverage is the coverage you get from your employer. If you currently do not have health insurance through your employer, try to sneak into the plan now as most employers will have open enrollment period during Jan/Feb of each year. If you try to buy individual coverage from a HMO/PPO, those insurance companies can mercilessly decline maternity coverage.
If you get into group coverage, no matter what trimester your wife is in, insurance companies WILL have to cover the maternity as per the plan choose.
Please investigate and let us know what you find.

And lastly, has anybody ever heard of "Follow to join" procedure? What exactly is it and can we utilize it to our benefit?
If your GC is approved before your wife can enter US and apply for I-485, then she can do "following to join" through consular processing. The apparent wisdom seems to be that the application has to be done quite quickly, but I had read in one website that there is no time limit to apply (it is possible that the law changed in that regard; you need to seek a competent lawyer's advice and check the current rules). I also read that visa numbers are not required for following to join; i.e., she can get GC even if PD retrogrades. If an employer does not take advantage of employees by doing illegal things while applying for labor sub (e.g., asking for money, asking employee to sign a bond etc), it is a legitimate way to get GC. I have repeatedly said that PD transfer during labor sub should be stopped, if possible. However that has consequences too because of the stupid "labor must be pending 1 year for H1 extension" rule.
There are legitimate scenarios for a company to use labor sub when they want to hire someone in their 6th year of H1 or children of employees they have hired are going to become 21+ and need to apply for 485 before that happens. There could also be concern about H1 stamping in some countries and hence getting AP becomes important.
However, there are lots of bad apples with labor sub (read as companies taking advantage of employees) too. Overall, labor sub would not be an issue if there were adequate visa allocations for high skilled individuals.

31st is a working day for me, if 180th day is 31st than does the employer lose the ability to revoke 140 from the 31st or 1st?, Does it mean than USCIS should receive revokation request by 31st or that the request can be postmarked by the 180th day?

Would you mind sharing the process of getting the PPF from your old employer in India? i.e. what kind of forms do I need to request? What kind of documentation is needed etc?
I closed my PPF account twice and never paid a single paisa. The second one I closed when I was in US and got the forms here through my old employer and Signed and send those form back to that employer , they filed it, Don'y know if they attached "NOC" but I got all of my money (close to INR80K) in 2 or 3 weeks at my home address in India.
I guess no one needs to pay money for to PPF in any state all you need tyo do is follow the proper instructions, It's as good as in any bank.

He's a full blown liberal both fiscally and socially.
I would think coming from MI, a state that has one of the highest unemployment, and the relief that the auto industry got - it continues to exist because of those liberal fiscal policies.
Besides, his being liberal fiscally/socially has nothing to do with our issues. He is probably the best ally for our issue in the democratic circle...

2. If your company issues W-2 electronically and your banks/financial institutions produce 1099s electronically, you can file the returns from India electronically and direct refund to your bank account.
