For some reason I remember this Venkat80 got his GC approved. If he is the same guy and playing with our emotions then this guy must be banned right away from IV. Otherwise I am sorry..

The USCIS online case status system has never been 100% accurate. New data is "dumped" into the system on a nightly basis, and sometimes there is a technical glitch that randomly prevents some data from being transferred. USCIS claims that it is impossible to correct this problem and update case status info. in individual cases. So, it is unlikely that you will be able to get the online status changed.
However, what you can and should do is to get written confirmation from USCIS that your RFE response was timely filed. If your lawyer is a member of AILA, he can use the AILA/TSC liaison process to obtain this written confirmation from USCIS. If your lawyer cannot or will not do this, you should consider finding another immigration lawyer. Remember that the I-485 is your application, and not your employer's. You are entitled to legal representation of your choice.

I got RFE for my spouse in August 2008 for I-485 regrading the marriage certificate and stil the status hasn't got update, called several times but no luck.

If I have an approved H1B starting Oct 1st 2008, will I be able to cancel it to be able to continue on my OPT (valid till June 2009) and get a 17 month extension from June 2009?

I am planning to go outside US for three weeks, I am planning to enter using AP (I485 is pending), my H1B extension is pending (no receipt). my H1 is expired.
The questions are :
1. With above conditions, will everything be ok when I come back esp with my H1B extension process ? can I get H1B approval ? this is my fourth extension.
2. Do I need to surrender my expired I-94 at POE ?
3. When I come back from vacation, can I still use H1B status for working ? because I will enter using AP (status : parolee) and my H1B extension is pending.

Guys, According to following URL, it seems that all july filers should get the RN by now irrespective of the processing centers. I am 24th July filer but still did not get the RNs so far. Are other ppl also in same boat? Please let me know. I am worried now.

I had asked this question to the immigration lawyer at IV. She said that if you are working for the same company at their offices aboard & go for Consular Processing ( it is the only option as you can not go 485 route) it should be just fine. However, if the company that you are working for when you are abroad and the company that did your GC are not the same thenit is almost impossible to prove that the job exists when you arrive in USA after CP.
It is an interesting question i am also worried about. I was told by my company attorney that i need to file I-140 asap as USCIS is in process of changing how long you can wait with approved LC before filing I-140. Once you have I-140 approved, basically you can come back to the US on an H-1 to work for the company (you will need a new h-1, even if you have a 3 yr. extension based on approved I-140). Then if and when the priority dates become current you should be able to file for I-485

This is a very genuine concern. I being the only son have worries on the same lines too. Although my parents are healthy and doing fine at this time but I get really get tensed to fathom what is there down the line in another 5 years or so. Bringing them here is not an option, medical insurance will not cover pre-existing condition neither is there any visa other than B2. Two options come to my mind:
1) I take up job which requires lot of travel, back-and-forth to India.
2) I move for good to India.
3) Look for a full-time nurse to be available to take care of them and I travel to India once in every 3 months, may be just for a week or so each time.
All three options put a dent in your life. But I guess the golden period of life is over, remaining period of life will go raising your kids, looking after your parents. Sometimes I like the American culture a lot; you get to enjoy all life long!

Correct me if I am wrong...but I believe a bill has to pass in both Senate and Congress and signed by President to be enacted into law. Currently the H1/EB bills are only presented in Senate. Any comments?

I need your suggestion. My birth was not registered within one year of my date of birth but it was registered recently and I got my Birth certificate with me. I'm just preparing documents for filing for 485 in near future. Some body has just mentioned to me that USCIS would send an RFE if I submit that Birth Certificate with 485 filing. Could anybody have an idea about documents that I would need to get and to submit with my birth certificate as per my per later registered birth certificate ?
I would appreciate if anybody can point me with links if somebody already gone through this.

I also have receipt numbers beginning with WAC and filed in NSC. I was able to open a SR last month for self and spouse. During my infopass apt, the IO suggested that I could also open a SR by calling USCIS if I believe my case is not being processed within their window.
