Its a small good news. I got similar status update last year sometime in Aug/Sept before my I-485 was finally approved around end of Sept '08. My case was originally filed at CSC and then was transferred to NSC. I got this message when NSC finally picked up my transferred case, dusted it off and (I'm guessing) input it in their system. Most likely your cases went the similar route and now they have been finally picked up by the destination center for processing.

I know after we file the i-485 for 180 days, we can change our jobs. But rule is that the new job should be in the same field as the old one.
Can i change my job from a biological researcher to a biostatistician? My current job is in the field of biology, which involves lots of experiments. If I change my job to a biostatistician, which is like a programmer, do i still qualify the "similar filed" rule? thanks for your help!
You can change you job after 180 days with an approved i-140. And job description and duties should be same or similar. So would you say the job duties are same/similar?

Ok disclaimer first. I do work directly with employer and not a consultant.
I think there is an ongoing debate over it whether consultant companies should be allowed for H1b's and green cards or not. Let me be very honest. There are so many US employers who do not want to get into mess of H1b's but still want talent. These desi or videsi consultant firms feed on them and people like you and me searching for jobs. It is generated out of necessity on both ends.
There are some very very big consulting firms too and not to Mom and Pop Desi shops.
I feel for both sides and the real problem is to have multiple H1's and H1b's sitting on bench which is even worst. So either they hire and pay and make their responsibility to find job or don't file for H1b's

So my old company's lawyers got my Denial Notice today. USCIS is unbelievable in their incompetence. I got denied because apparently I filed when a visa date was not available. Why would i do such a stupid thing? Obviously the IO didnt take the time to do a little research to see why I filed when I did, nor did his Director who rubber-stamped the denial.
My I-485 was filed on August 2nd, 2007. The August 2007 visa bulletin released on July 12th, 2007 did indicate UNAVAILABLE (http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_3269.html). However, USCIS, amended that a few days later with an update allowing a month (through August 17, 2007) for all individuals who were current as of the July 2007 bulletin (including me) to file. See the attached link: http://www.uscis.gov/files/pressrelease/VisaBulletinUpdate17Jul07.pdf, USCIS issues an update allowing
It took me about 1.5 minutes on Google to locate the Update Memo. To think that an IO cannot locate this essential memo and would blatantly deny a valid application is beyond me. This is insane that an organization as important as the USCIS can be so inefficient.
I called their customer service number to see if i could resolve it in a simple manner. The jerk of an IO I spoke to said "you are not going to like what I am going to say, but you are currently out of status (since I am on EAD and AP) and will need to file an MTR. People may tell you to not pay the fee for the MTR, but I recommend you do, since that is the only way your case will be reviewed"
Thanks Jerk - i hope the Ombudsman's office gets to the bottom of these erroneous denials and fires all y'all.

Those are good points. We are not all Indian or Chinese on this website and in my case I moved to the US because of insecurity in my country (got kidnapped twice). If I went back there I could have a top job with a top company (and have had many offers) but that is not a place where I'd like to raise a family.
Before the US I almost moved to China, but then I got the US job offer. I now have the Canada option, but I wouldn't mind moving to India. I have lots of Indian friends and I think Indians are easily one of the very nicest people in the world while being smart too (not conceited), plus they speak English. (Nothing against China, but it would take me at least 3 years to learns OK Chinese)
Anyone have any advice about finding a job in India? (I am serious) I have to have options since my home country is not an option, and in case Canada doesn't work for me. If anyone can give me information on moving to India I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
I think, your best bet would be Canada....I don't know your nationality, but Indian immigration laws are tough...work visas are not easy to get...
Montreal is a great city! Very European and multi cultural...you can't avoid French influence, but you don't have to know French to survive...there are some great companies in Montreal...

FYI All the Hawla, Bofors, Fodder scams, 2G scam did not even occur from the mentioned one state alone !
The state has / had best IIT coaching facilities ( you call it a manufacturing shop, I don't care). Which produced lot of good engineers, who genuine have completed their education in this country and added value here.

A spouse from no other country other than India and China has to wait this long to EAD, even all the spouses of substitute labor are working on EAD's.
Dont make a blanket statement about corruption, every region has its problems. Even in this country money from recovered from freezers of politicians. Corrupt & Dishonest people exist every place.

If you look carefully health insurance payments are deducted in advance from the paycheck. So if say you join the new company in February the old company's paycheck at the end of January should be deducting health insurance for February. Therefore if the new company provides health insurance from March you should still be covered without requiring COBRA.

However, after years of wait (which perhaps was not that long compared to many others) and after sobber look at how much longer this may take I start to wonder if it worth it? I am starting to take what used to be a plan B - moving to Canada - more seriously now.
